Plan Your Visit.
Got a question? Maybe We Can Sort It Out Here.
WHEN ARE YOU OPEN?
Wed: 5pm - 11pm Thurs & Fri: 5pm - 2am, Sat & Sun: 11am - 2am
*sometimes we open on Monday & Tuesday nites at 9pm if a special concert is booked - consult our concert calendar.
ARE KIDS WELCOME?
Absolutely! We are family friendly until 9pm. We even have step stools for junior wizards so they can reach the games. After 9pm we switch over to a live music venue format which requires that all patrons be 19+ to stay.
DO I NEED I.D. TO STAY PAST 9pm
Absolutely! You MUST have identification proving you are over 19 years of age. We are super super strict about this policy. It’s simple…. just bring some I.D. and avoid the disappointment of being turned away at the door.
DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR COAT CHECK?
Nope! We have 2 large coat racks at each end of the venue.
PARKING & STUFF?
Best place to find parking is along our cross street Sunnyside. If you are down with public transit, the #1 & #7 stops right in front of our door.
DO YOU RENT HOUSE OF TARG FOR PRIVATE FUNCTIONS?
We sure do. Visit our Party Bookings page for rates.
HOW MUCH DO THE GAMES COST
General rule: Classic Arcade Machines = 25 cents & Pinball = $1
That being said there are a few 50 cent & $1 video games. We also always have a few 25 cent pinball machines permanently on location. Prices are marked on the machines, do some exploring.
DO I NEED TO BUY TOKENS?
All of our machines use standard Canadian coins. If you need to convert your paper money into coins just ask the Bearded Wizard at the front or one of the Elixir Wizards at the bar.
WHAT’S GOOD ARCADE ETIQUETTE?
- Never put a drink on a machine (electricity and liquids are not pals). Use the cup holders instead. Putting your purse or jacket on top of a machine is also a huge faux pas.
- Respect the machines. Slamming your fist on a pinball machine out of frustration is dangerous & it makes you look like a dork.
- Respect Others. Don’t hog the games. Take a look behind before playing again to see if someone else is waiting to play. You can even invite them to join you for a game. Have Fun and make new friends.
WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH THIS FREEPLAY THING?
Every Sunday nite AFTER 9pm there is a $5 cover charge but we set all the games to FREEPLAY. That means unlimited classic arcade and pinball action for only FIVE measly Canadian dollars. Again FREEPLAY starts AFTER 9PM & is a 19+ event.
WHAT TIME DO THE CONCERTS/SHOWS START?
We start charging admission at 9PM. Bands usually start at around 10pm.
HOW MUCH ARE THE CONCERTS/SHOWS?
It depends on who is playing, please consult our show listings for prices. When possible we try to keep the cover charge at around $5 to encourage folks to stick around & check out their future favourite band.
IF I’M THERE BEFORE 9PM DO I STILL PAY THE COVER?
Yes. If you are going to stick around past 9pm you will be required to pay the cover and get a stamp. That’s how these hard working musicians pay for gas!
WHAT KINDS OF BANDS PLAY AT HOUSE OF TARG?
It changes from nite to nite - Rock, Metal, Punk, Indie, Country, Puppet Shows. Consult our calendar.
I HEARD IT IS LOUD THERE. WHAT’S THE DEAL?
Some consider our Punk & Metal shows to be loud. That's the nature of those music genres. We always have inexpensive ear plugs available. Best advice is to check the listings before your visit.
Once you try them you will never ponder the question again.
WHAT KIND OF PEROGIES DO YOU SERVE?
Check out our menu.
WHAT TIME DOES THE KITCHEN CLOSE?
Last call for perogies is 10:30pm.
WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH THE TARG SUNDAY BRUNCH?
Every Sunday we serve our awesome take on brunch from 11:00 am - 2pm. Eggs, bacon, kielbasa sausage, toast, coffe/juice & PEROGIES. It comes in 2 sizes and there's a Vegan option. Our regular dinner menu resumes at 3pm.
