THE HISTORY OF GUNPOWDER (Mtl Experimental Blues Rock Jazz)
The History of Gunpowder is a five piece swamp-pirate blues, freak out troupe from Montreal. Drawing inspiration from blues, soul, jazz, funk and punk, the music exists as an ordered chaos; elevated by the band’s affiliation with Montreal’s finest burlesque dancers and performance artists, who often perform original numbers alongside the band. For fans of Tom Waits,  Screamin' Jay Hawkins & eclectic freakiness.

ALL DAY BREAKFAST (Mtl Roots/Bluegrass/Traditional Folk)
The Montreal-based All Day Breakfast Stringband plays old time music from the southern and midwestern USA. Fiddle, guitar, double bass, banjo, and voices join forces to confirm that the old music is still exhilarating. The band formed gradually through bourbon fuelled jam sessions in Montreal’s many public nature reserves, and solidified with recording sessions, as well as actual concerts for people who don’t spend all of their free time in parks. This semi-serious monkeying around has done quite well by the All Day Breakfast Stringband, taking them to beautiful spots around Quebec and Ontario as well as becoming an award winning band two years running at the Appalachian Stringband Festival in Clifftop West Virginia. The fiddle has always been at the heart of old time music, and Max Evans makes his sound like the best bacon in the world popping and spattering in a burning hot cast iron skillet; Matt James’ banjo playing is as crude yet necessary as bacon’s timeless counterpart, the buttery fried egg while Andrew Kobus on the mandolin and Dara Weiss on the guitar chug like you did that pot of coffee after a night at the bottom of a whiskey bottle. This band may just be the best way to start a balanced day, or end an unbalanced night. Enjoy responsibly.

RIISHI VON REX (Ottawa Rock and roll, soul, blues, folk)
Riishi Von Rex is a gypsy-rock duo who like to tell tall tales, invoke rainstorms and break old curses. Featuring Riishi’s howling vocals and fierce guitar styling and Michel’s theatrical use of a drum-kit, RVR’s innovative approach to rock blends diverse world music styles into the folds of guitar driven, danceable songs. Audiences may disbelieve Riishi’s various unlikely stories about encounters with Slavic witches, being terrorized by the undead and generally being an impossibly difficult woman, but none can deny the ferocity which with they are delivered
