Ottawa to Host the 2023-24 Ontario Women’s Provincial Pinball Championship for the First Time.
Pinball Women Ottawa invites the public to feel the excitement, absorb retro vibes, and come watch pinball wizards vie for the Provincial Championship Title.
The International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) 2023-24 Ontario Women’s Provincial Pinball Championship, will showcase the skills of the top 16 women from across the province as they compete for the chance to represent Ontario in the IFPA Women’s North American Championship. The tournament is being hosted by Pinball Women Ottawa in partnership with the House of Targ (1077 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario) and is being supported by a grant from The Ottawa Chapter of the Awesome Foundation. The top eight players in open events and the top eight players in women’s-only events held in Ontario in 2023 will qualify for the Ontario Women’s Provincial Pinball Championship.
YOU ARE INVITED TO WATCH
Pinball enthusiasts of all ages are welcome to watch the Championship, which will commence at 12:00 pm on January 21, 2024. For a fee of $10, fans can spectate the tournament and enjoy unlimited play of classic arcade games that are not being used in the competition. *Please note that pinball machines will not be available for play during the tournament. Attendees can expect to see impressive displays of skill and strategy as these talented players compete for the title of IFPA Ontario Women’s Provincial Pinball Champion.
“A decade ago, there might be one or two women participating in a local tournament,” says Caitlyn Pascal, co-founder of Pinball Women Ottawa (PWO). “Now PWO members are not only drastically increasing the number of women playing, but we are regularly finalists in open tournaments, and have even swept the podium on occasion”, she adds. This year marks the third ever annual Ontario Women’s Provincial Pinball Championship, and the first time the competition is being held in Ottawa.
This year is also the first time that the winners of Provincial and State Championships across Canada and the United States will move on to compete in the Women’s North American Championship. The 2023 IFPA Women’s North American Pinball Championship will be held March 22nd, 2024 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
