TOUGH AGE (TO/VAN Garage Punk MINT RECS)Tough Age is culmination-rock. The sound of four radical adults with shared decades of experience, chops and killer record collections coming together to create charismatic, idiosyncratic pop songs for the ages.
For their stated sonic inspirations, the band is quick to whip off a laundry list of musical heroes. From lo-fi godfathers Guided By Voices to the New Zealand fuzz-pop of Toy Love, the Clean and Bird Nest Roys, they also dig deep into Canadian garage 45s of the ’60s from names like the Townsmen, Jury and Ferraris of Canada. Heck, there might even be a dash of Tommy James and the Shondells, plus the cartoon bubblegum of the Archies, Groovy Ghoulies and Ohio Express. Yummy yummy!
PETRA GLYNT (MTL Experimental Percussion Pop)
Petra Glynt is the solo music project of Alexandra Mackenzie. It began in 2013 with the release of the Of This Land EP with Toronto independent record label, Healing Power Records. Her music gathers together aspects of her work as an operatically trained vocalist, drummer, producer/ recording artist, featuring heavy percussion, vocal looping, synths, and sample-based sound collage. In likeness with her visual art practice, she finds freedom in the infinite world of composition as synesthetic representations of colour, form, and rhythm, with energy and lyrics that speak to empower her audience and listeners.
MAN MADE HILL (TO Electronic Existential Disco)
Man Made Hill is the intergalactic solo mission of Randy Gagne. Having gestated thus in the crustiest reaches of Planet Ontario, Man Made Hill emerges periodically from the subterranean quadrant of Ontario City to perform his special blend of existential entertainment in public. Utilizing, with great difficulty, a stew of scorched samples, soaring synth, and full-on Life performance, Man Made Hill presents absurd, erotic episodes that are both entertaining and intriguing for the audience to listen and dance to. Come discover the phenomenon some critics are calling “music, sort of…”, that will massage your face into a smile every time.

MEGAPHONO welcomes music industry professionals from the US, Canada and abroad for a festival celebrating Ottawa-Gatineau and Eastern Ontario music. Booking agents, record labels, music publishers, film/TV music supervisors, managers, publicists and other industry folks will descend on Ottawa and be treated to an insider's look at the city and its burgeoning music scene. Participating artists and delegates will have a chance to interact with our visitors, learning about the various facets of the music industry and equipping themselves with invaluable knowledge for those wishing to pursue music as a career, or further what they're already doing.
