Fet.Nat (12:00 AM)
Hull’s Fet.Nat mine a playground of unique creation where the members shape a sound that brings The Jesus Lizard to mind. JFNo’s playful flow rides a tsunami of fractured rhythms, grooves, atypical melodies, and general chaos, akin to Captain Beefheart’s work. Some have dubbed it “spasmodic-punk”. We call it a sound we’re proud to call home.
The Yips (11:15 PM)
Featuring the writhing Kerri Carisse on vocals and an earthquake of a backing band (Jon Bennett on drums / Zach Leibert on guitar / Jon Schofield on guitar / Kurt Rafuse on bass), the Yips have made a righteous ruckus these past few years, and delivered one of the strongest releases of 2014 in "Air Loom" (Bruised Tongue).
AKOUFÈN (10:30 PM)
AKOUFEN is an alternative metal band based in the Ottawa/Gatineau region. Fresh off the road from a 47-show tour promoting their first album “Le sixième sens”, the band is breaking stereotypes when it comes to "french music". “Le sixième sens” first debuted at #3 in the francophone charts on iTunes and its single “L’acouphène” has since been featured often on francophone radio. Constantly working on new material, this band loves nothing more than playing live shows and sharing their music with new fans.
MEGAPHONO is an Ottawa-based music organization focused on building opportunities for Ottawa-area artists. MEGAPHONO is also the namesake of a brand new music showcase festival happening February 3-5 in Ottawa, featuring emerging artists from the Ottawa/Gatineau/Eastern Ontario scenes.
